The Ovaherero Traditional Authority faction led by Professor Mutjinde Katjiua has adopted various key resolutions at its Chief council meeting.
The resolutions adopted, among others, aim to guide and set the way forward for advancing community development, good governance, and institutional capacity building in the Ovaherero community.
The Ovaherero Traditional Authority faction, led by Professor Mutjinde Katjiua, is advocating for good governance, education, resilient livelihoods, restorative justice, and stakeholder engagement.
Speaking at the official opening of the Chief Council meeting held at Aminuis Constituency, Professor Katjiua told the traditional leaders not to take the meeting lightly.
"Coming here is in line with the work that Hosea Kutako has carried out, therefore, we bring ourselves here to reconstruct the Hereros and have a constitution that will define how we are going to manage the affairs of the Ovaherero people here in Namibia, Botswana, South Africa, and everywhere the Hereros are.
The third thing that we're looking at that the constitution will address is really putting the Hereros on the development agenda. For too long, we have been in squabbles. We want to add to that traditional domain of really developing the community economically.
The Chief council meeting is attended by senior traditional councils and their subordinates from all areas of jurisdiction within the Ovaherero Traditional Authority.
