Nineteen-year-old Jeromius Rooi is diligently preparing for the highly anticipated Africa Triathlon Championships set to take place in Egypt next month. Triathlon involves swimming, cycling, and long-distance running.

Despite Rooi's previous participation in triathlon events, he and his team have faced challenges in acquiring the necessary equipment, such as the blade and the correct bike.

Fortunately, these hurdles are now a thing of the past, thanks to the Ministry of Sport, which donated a blade worth 209 thousand Nam dollars, and Bradley Klopper, a generous business individual who sponsored a bike worth 60 thousand Nam dollars. Rooi expressed his gratitude to the Ministry and the supportive business community for their assistance.

 

Assistant coach Hetty Nelumbu explains how the new equipment will benefit the athlete.Nelumbu reveals that the plan is to use the 2023 Triathlon Championships as a stepping stone to qualify for the Paris 2024 Para-Olympics.
