Fourth-year law students at the University of Namibia have refurbished and donated medical equipment to the paediatric unit at Katutura Health Centre.

This is to create a calming and conducive environment for patients.

Katutura Health Centre, popularly known as Black Chain in honour of a nearby mall of the same name, operates on a 24-hour clock system, catering to residents of Katutura.

Students repainted the wall of the paediatric unit, making it child-friendly and enhancing its environment for comfort.

They also donated medical equipment, which includes beds and drip stands.

As partial fulfilment of the requirements of the LLB Legal Aid Clinic and Professional Ethics course, students under the Cicero legal firm embarked on the project to address the issue of access to adequate health facilities and to promote the health of Namibia's people while upholding their human rights.

The students identified many other needs at the clinic and urged others to come on board and assist the government in providing quality health care services.
