NamPower inaugurated the erected fences at four schools in the Zambezi Region worth more than N$2 million.
The schools have been requesting assistance over the past years to keep learners safe.
Handing over the facilities, NamPower's Senior Manager for Human Capital, Dr. Simeon Amunkete, says there is nothing more important and greater than education for any nation.
Dr. Amunkete noted that NamPower has resolved to be part of education development in the advancement of the aspirations of learners and their schools.
"We believe that this facility will serve as a secure backdrop against which learners will be able to obtain and improve their education and go on to live a full and rewarding life in the future that contributes to the country's economic imancipation."
He observed that education is the most important pillar of social and economic development and the greatest equaliser in society.
One of the applicants to school development and former school principal of Kanono Combined School, famously referred to as a national asset by many in the education sector, was a happy man.
NamPower invested N$1.4 million in Kanono Combined School.
"It is a symbol of safety, security, and opportunity for our learners. We are not only safeguarding the premises but also the future of our learners, who can now fully immerse themselves in their studies without the fear of external disruptions."
Zambezi Governor, Alufea Sampofu, stressed in a message read on his behalf that the lack of proper school fencing meant that learners were able to leave their classrooms to attend to livestock frequently entering the school premises.
"The fencing of these four schools has not only changed the security of our schools but also created a conducive environment for teaching and learning. One outstanding aspect that we are proud of is that Kanono Combined School is now the only school amongst the rural schools in the entire Zambezi Region with unique palisade fencing surrounding the whole school."
Sampofu urged the receiving communities to ensure that the rare gesture of kindness is well cared for and guarded jealously against any form of vandalism and abuse.
Other schools that benefited are Mutikitila, Mukorufu, and Samudono Primary Schools.
