The |Khomanin Traditional Authority unveiled the tombstone of its late Gaob Josephat Gawa-!Nab over the weekend.

The tombstone was unveiled during the community's annual cultural festival at Farm Baumgartsbrunn.

The |Khomanin gathered at Baumgartsbrunn to celebrate and promote their culture as well as to deliberate on the burning issue of landlessness.

The community stressed that they lack land of their own and are forced to rent and be subject to eviction from one place to the next.

Also, unlike other tribes with their own land, the Gaos of the |Khomanin Traditional Authority, Juliane Gawa-!Nas, say they are forced to spend money on burying their loved ones.

"It was heartbreaking for us that our late chief's grave must be along the road at a private, white-owned place; my father's grave is sitting here. Because you put your father's grave on somebody's land, you do not have a sense of belonging somewhere. How bad could it be?"

Joblessness among the youth is another sad reality.

Swapo Party Central Committee Member John Elago appealed to traditional authorities to work together to cushion the developmental challenges experienced.
