Re-elected mayor Risto Kapendah says the demand for land at Arandis has become urgent because the town has become one of the fastest-growing centres in the Erongo Region.
In his acceptance speech, the re-elected Mayor Risto Kapendah highlighted the various economic projects undertaken this year. These include the establishment of a charcoal manufacturing plant.
In addition, a sulphur bagging plant also got off the ground and started producing, while a truck port was further inaugurated.
Kapendah says the council has approved four additional plants, while the land servicing of a logistics hub is at an advanced stage.
"Arandis is the fastest-growing town, related to economic activity, in the country. It has also attracted various large foreign direct investors, like Ohlthaver, List, and CMB Tech, to mention but a few. Therefore, the land requirement in Arandis has grown exponentially. Under the term in review, 192 plots have been allocated, and 132 homes have been constructed under the showhouse development project. The need for land, however, remains a challenge, so much so that the town has been forced to expand our townlands.
Apart from the mayor retaining his position during the office-bearers' election, deputy mayor Erastus Kandenge was also re-elected.
All councillors in the management committee retained their positions, with Cecillie ||Hoabes continuing as chairperson.
Rita Hoeses and Barnabas Kambara will continue to serve as ordinary council members.
