The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Agriculture, Environment, and Natural Resources shared valuable insights from their recent study visit to Ghana.

They focused on the country's thriving oil and gas industry and discussed its significant impact on local communities.

The Deputy Chairperson of the committee, Elder Filipe, presented the report, indicating that local empowerment through legislation is one of the standout points emphasised by the Namibian delegation that is of paramount importance to local content and local participation laws.

Drawing parallels with Ghana's approach, Filipe underscored the significance of empowering local populations with technical skills, preventing exploitation, and fostering a balanced approach to resource utilisation.
