Since January of this year, residents of Brendan Kangongolo Simbwaye Village in Malindi, Zambezi Region, have faced challenges in accessing potable water.

The difficulties began following the collapse of a 10,000-litre water tank that served the community.

Residents claim that they do not have water for daily use and are appealing to the government to come to their aid.

Bernard Simbwaye, a resident of the village, says children have been going to school without bathing as they try to use water sparingly.

Contacted for comment, Kabbe North Constituency Councillor, Bernard Sisamu, told nbc News that he is aware of the tank burst at Simbwaye Village.

However, Sisamu says there are no funds at the moment to address the water situation, adding that the financial year has just ended and they are still waiting for the new financial year's budget to be approved.

Sisamu added that the constituency office does not have its own budget and depends on the relevant ministries and departments.
