Omaheke Governor, Pijoo Nganate, is pleased with efforts being made by the residents of Ovinjuru Village in Epukiro, including the set up of modern infrastructure for a preprimary school, an adult education centre, and the community garden project.
Speaking during the Governors Service Delivery Day at Ovinjuru Village, Nganate emphasised the need to lay a strong education foundation for the young ones, which should be a collective journey.
One of the residents, Floyd Hambira, says it is high time that communities champion development in their areas instead of entirely waiting on government.
Hambira spoke about some of the projects the community wants to get involved in, saying, "We are planning to have a first aid clinic that will become a clinic on a later stage that might become a special hospital. We are left with many other things that are on our programmes, and as we have met with the governor and the councillor, hopefully, we may really come out and get assisted in making our dream come true."
Epukiro Councillor Packy Pakarae welcomed the initiative taken by the residents without having to wait for the government's assistance.
"Now you see the plan that there are multiple facets that are still missing, of which we as government, either at the constituency or regional level, must step in to make sure that this dream becomes a reality, and also because it has to be done sustainably."
The Ovinjuru village has a population of more than 150 residents.
