The Chairperson of the National Men's Fellowship, Sydney Boois, has called on the government to join hands with the church to curb gender-based violence (GBV).
Boois said this during a media briefing ahead of the annual conference at AFM Corpus Christi in Okahandja.
"The 2nd Annual Men's Conference at AFM Corpus Christi at Okahandja under the theme Rising of Godly Man in an Ungodly World, the conference theme is a call to action firstly to generate fresh ideas and approaches to tackle eminent challenges facing men and boys."
He says that it's about time that the government set up safe and friendly male facilities for men and boys to engage regularly.
The second conference will cover a range of issues such as men's health, mentorship, providing spiritual directions, toxic masculinity, shaping men into leaders, and how to be men.
"We urge government ministries and officers of the president to consider formalisation of the legal framework through the establishment of a statutory body to address GBV, such as the establishment of the National Council of GBV through an ACT as it was introduced in South Africa."
Additionally, there will be another men's engagement on Saturday at Inner City in Windhoek.
