An anti-gay movement in Namibia has urged the Ministry of Education, Arts, and Culture to suspend or withdraw sex education programmes, arguing that these programmes promote homosexuality.

The "Stop Homosexuality and Same-Sex Marriages in Namibia" group made this demand during a protest in Windhoek today (Tuesday).

In their petition, the group accused the ministry of endorsing homosexuality through sex education in schools. 

Pendapala Nakathiongo, chairperson of the group's committee, expressed concerns about these programs, stating that they teach children immorality.

He also called on the ministry to investigate NGOs such as Project Hope, DREAM, and Be Free, alleging that they infiltrate the education system with the intent of promoting ideas that contradict cultural beliefs.

Additionally, the group rejected the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQI) agenda and same-sex marriages in Namibia, demanding the removal of such flags from schools.

The petition was received by Edda Bohn, Deputy Executive Director at the Education Ministry, who promised to look into the matter.

Furthermore, the group submitted a petition to the UN House, seeking compensation and recognition for Namibian ex-combatants repatriated by the UN’s High Commissioner for Refugees in 1989 under resolution 435.
