The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) hosted an important stakeholders' engagement meeting in Omuthiya, Oshikoto Region, as part of its preparations for the upcoming Presidential and National Assembly elections. 

This meeting aimed to equip local stakeholders with essential information related to the electoral process, fostering a collaborative atmosphere ahead of the crucial polls.

During the meeting, a range of topics were discussed, including the nomination of candidates and election agents, the logistics surrounding special elections, the issuance of duplicate voter cards, and the overall code of conduct that will govern the electoral process.

One of the key announcements made was regarding the special elections, scheduled for November 13, 2024.

"Special Elections, on the 13 November 2024, so eligible voters in the Oshikoto Region are encouraged to participate, with voting locations established at the Omuthiya Police Station and Oshivelo Police Station. Voting will commence at 7:00 AM and conclude at 9:00 PM. The main Presidential and National Assembly elections for all of Namibia will take place on November 27, 2024," said Lucas Andimba, Returning Officer of Okankolo Constituency. 

Participants were also informed about the process for obtaining duplicate voter cards. This service is available for individuals who have lost their cards, experienced damage, or identified errors on their current voter cards. To facilitate this process, individuals must present proof of identity, such as an ID card, to verify their previous voter registration. 

The engagement meeting served as a vital platform for information sharing, ensuring that stakeholders were well-prepared for a smooth electoral process. As the nation gears up for the elections, the ECN remains committed to transparency, accessibility, and the promotion of an informed electorate, Ester Hipangelwa concluded.
