The Republican Party explained that it withdrew from the delegation that went to oversee the design, printing, and delivery of ballot papers in South Africa because it does not support the awarding of the tender to Ren-Form CC.

RP is one of the three parties that pulled out of the trip.

RP's President Henk Mudge pronounced himself during a media briefing where the party's parliamentary list of 26 was also introduced.

Mudge described the decision by the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) to award the ballot printing contract to the company as dishonest.

"We have decided not to send our representatives, not because of funds; the ECN is paying for everything, and the other thing that is worrying is that the ECN has not responded since last week to all the accusations other than to say that the company was selected after thorough investigation."

Mudge wants opposition parties to unite in taking legal action against the ECN over the awarding of the tender.

Eighteen political parties travelled to South Africa on Sunday, including those that initially criticised ECN over the awarding of the tender.

The ECN earlier stated that it had done due diligence in the awarding of the tender, promising to uphold the highest standards of transparency and accountability to safeguard free and fair elections.
