The Chief Executive Officer of Hyphen Hydrogen Energy has assured the public that the company's green hydrogen project will be done in a sustainable and corruption-free manner.
Marco Raffinetti was speaking during an educational media tour of the green hydrogen site in Lüdertiz recently.
Raffinetti emphasised their commitment to transparency and international standards during the implementation of the green hydrogen project, saying they will ensure the project benefits all Namibians.
"We have zero tolerance for corruption. I will go home; I am not interested in that. The only way we can develop this is to the highest possible international standards. If you look at the history of how renewable energy is done in Africa to date, it's been done in a very sustainable and corruption-free way, and that's the only way this industry will develop, and that is the reason why we are in Namibia because Namibia has the lowest levels of corruption in Africa and other international peers."
He also added that Hyphen Hydrogen Energy has an open-door policy towards working with the media to avoid misinformation.
"You have a huge responsibility as journalists to report the facts and get it right, and we would really want to work closely with you to make sure we get the facts right. If you have questions or rumours, engage us on those things. Because if there is misreporting, it can be damaging to your country, and you have an obligation to ensure that all sectors embrace such economic activities."
The educational tour was a joint initiative between the Namibia Green Hydrogen Programme and Hyphen Hydrogen Energy.
