The Namibian Police has assured the public that stringent security measures will be in place for the upcoming Presidential and National Assembly Elections.
Speaking at the arrival of the ballot papers from South Africa, Commissioner Petrus Swartz emphasised that security personnel have maintained an unbroken chain of oversight, escorting the ballots from their departure to their arrival and storage in Namibia.
He stated that the police force is fully prepared to secure every stage of the electoral process, ensuring the safety of the ballots and peace of mind for the electorate.
"Yes, the ballots arrived from South Africa. We were there. I was leading the team from the Namibian Police Force. And yes, our security personnel accompanied these ballot papers from South Africa to here. They were on the cargo planes. The officers were present. They were never left alone from the time they were sealed. So yes, from here we will load them onto the trucks. The trucks are already on the ground here with us. And then we will escort them to the electoral stores in the city."
"I can assure the nation and everybody, the political parts, that the Namibian Police Force is ready. We are ready to render services as required by law. That means safety and security for all the electoral processes until we are concluding these upcoming presidential and national assembly elections. We will definitely secure the places, the electoral source is properly secured, arrangements were made, and everything is in place. The nation does not have anything to worry about."
