Swapo Party Vice President and Presidential candidate for the November 27 Presidential and National Assembly Elections, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, says the Swapo Party Manifesto is crafted to solve the nation's challenges, moving forward from 2025.
Nandi-Ndaitwah noted that with 34 years of experience in governance and infrastructure development, she is ready, guided by the party manifesto, to address pertinent challenges, including poverty and unemployment among the youth and means to improve existing health facilities, among other prospects.
Nandi-Ndaitwah was addressing a Swapo Party Star Rally at Katima Mulilo on Saturday.
She promised that, if elected to lead Namibia for the next five years, policy implementation would be prioritised.
"While our generation of today commits ourselves to make sure that based on the strong foundation created or established 34 years ago, we should now commit ourselves to deliver quality service in everything we do so that we can address the challenges our people are facing. Therefore, our election manifesto is a vehicle that will lead us from 2025 to 2030; it is a document that is based on prudent financial and vibrant economic management, the social welfare of our people, job creation, and eradicating poverty in our country. Furthermore, we are focusing on major resource beneficiation, land reform, and infrastructure development, among others."
She noted that, with the Zambezi Region having fertile soil and an abundance of natural resources, agriculture and tourism remain the backbone of the region's economy.
To add to that, she stressed the need for transformation in the health sector as a matter of priority.
"We commit ourselves that some of these clinics in the next five years are going to be upgraded to health centres and some of the health centres are going to be upgraded into hospitals; our target is also the Katima Mulilo Hospital to become a district hospital as a matter of priority. With this growing population and with long distances, the time has come for us to provide the required health facilities to the people of Zambezi, the visitors, and all of us whenever we visit."
Nandi Ndaitwah said the Swapo Party will not compromise in delivering on its promises of developing agriculture, sports as a business, the creative industries, and all other sectors that support job creation.
She appealed to all Namibians to cooperate for successful elections and afterwards to work together with the government towards achieving the goals and objectives of service delivery.
