The Chancellor of the University of Namibia, President Nangolo Mbumba, says that the inauguration of the new Wildlife Management and Tourism department in Katima Mulilo, located in the Zambezi Region, marks a significant milestone not only for Namibians but also for the SADC region.

He emphasised that the department, strategically positioned at the heart of the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA), will play a crucial role in supporting all KAZA nations.

President Mbumba highlighted that this institution will significantly contribute to mitigating human-wildlife conflict and promoting coexistence between humans and wildlife.

He also expressed Namibia's continued appreciation for partnerships with other countries that aim to benefit the nation and its people.

These remarks were made during the inauguration of a new facility and the extension of the Department of Wildlife and Tourism Studies at the Katima Mulilo UNAM campus.

Kwf Development Bank Country Director Beatrice Lucke pledged ongoing support for the department, specifically regarding hostel accommodation for its new programs.
