With only a day left before the Presidential and National Assembly Elections on Wednesday, the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) has intensified its efforts to ensure all citizens are prepared to cast their votes.

Teams of ECN officers are currently on the ground in remote areas, including Grünau in the ||Kharas Region, conducting door-to-door voter education campaigns.

According to the 2023 Census, the ||Kharas Region has a population of 70,672 people, with 49,245 registered voters.

Despite these significant numbers, many in rural communities lack access to traditional news platforms, including radio, television, and social media.

To bridge this gap, ECN teams are personally delivering critical information about voting procedures to the inhabitants.

Rosa Kufuna, an ECN voter education officer stationed in Grünau, highlighted the importance of these efforts.

Kufuna also highlighted the challenges encountered during this activity, noting that the number of people misinformed remains surprisingly high.

This outreach intends to reinforce the inclusivity that Namibia's democracy strives to uphold.

It ensures that even the most remote communities can actively participate in choosing their next president and National Assembly representatives.
