The Electoral Commission of Namibia has commended Namibians for participating in this year's elections peacefully and in numbers, which affirms the country's democratic maturity.
Speaking on the Inside the Chambers programme, ECN Spokesperson De Wet Siluka acknowledged administrative and logistical hurdles but emphasized the Commission's swift actions to prioritize the electorate's interests.
“As a nation, we should take pride in our peaceful elections and the impressive voter turnout. Conducting elections on a national scale is a complex process that carries significant responsibility. This undertaking presents various challenges, including administrative and logistical issues. This year's elections encountered similar challenges. When these issues arose, our priority was to address them promptly, always acting in the best interest of the electorate, our democracy, and the Namibian nation as a whole. Throughout the election process, the Commission has consistently aimed to respond to emerging challenges in this spirit. We received valuable feedback from various electoral stakeholders during this journey. We viewed all feedback positively, as it allowed us to address immediate concerns and served as input for improving future electoral processes. At this moment, we would like to sincerely thank all Namibians and our electoral stakeholders for your feedback, support, patience, and resilience. The most important outcome is that Namibians have voted, and through their votes, they have expressed their choice of leaders for the next five years.
