Registered political parties and prospective independent candidates have been reminded that the nomination process for the Guinas Constituency by-election in the Oshikoto Region has commenced.

The process started on the 6th of December and will run until the 21st of December at eleven o'clock in the morning.

The Electoral Commission of Namibia urged independent candidates and political parties interested in contesting the Guinas Constituency by-election to submit their nominations timeously.

It says nominations can be submitted through the Political Party Candidate Portal at any time, while prospective independent candidates are urged to submit nominations before the 19th of December at four o'clock in the afternoon.

Political parties intending to participate in the by-election may use the same credentials that were utilized during the nominations for the 2024 Presidential and National Assembly Elections.

The vacancy was necessitated by the death of Guinas Constituency Councillor Elias Martinus a month ago.
