The police at Karasburg are investigating a case of culpable homicide following the death of a 17-year-old boy injured during a football match.
The deceased has been identified as Bradley Waterboer, a Grade 9 learner at Lordsville Secondary School. Waterboer's next of kin are aware of his death.
The incident occurred around 17:00 on Thursday.
NamPol crime investigations coordinator for ||Kharas, Deputy Commissioner Nicodemus Mbango, in a crime report on Sunday said Waterboer and his friends were playing a three-a-side football match when he collided with another player whilst blocking the ball.
The suspect had his arm raised with his elbow pointing, and negligently or accidentally struck the deceased on the neck with his elbow, causing an injury.
When the boy arrived at the hospital, he was in a coma and was referred to the Keetmanshoop State Hospital. He unfortunately died 40 kilometres outside Keetmanshoop.
