With national exam results set to be released tomorrow, ||Kharas Governor Aletha Frederick has urged parents to approach poor results with understanding and compassion.
She made this call during a fish donation to five community school hostels.
"Tomorrow the results will be released, and I want to urge parents, after receiving the results, to sit down with their children and talk to them. Let's embrace them, encourage them, and refrain from screaming at them or using harsh words. Instead, let's focus on seeing the positive in those results."
Frederick noted that applications for funding assistance with tertiary registration fees, provided by her office, remain open, and she encouraged learners to apply.
She handed over 70 boxes of 10-kilogram fish to community hostels through the Governor's Trust Forum, courtesy of Fishcor.
The governors' offices each received 100 boxes of fish for drought relief assistance.
However, Frederick deemed it prudent to seek additional assistance for community hostels, which primarily rely on government subsidies.
The community hostels at Bethanie, Blouwes, Aroab, Grunua, and Snyfontein will benefit from this donation.
"We know that community hostels are subsidized, but this is not enough for those learners to be adequately fed."
The ||Kharas Education Director, Jesmine Magerman, welcomed the donation.
"This time of year, many parents send their children to community hostels without being able to pay even the small fees required. Therefore, we are very grateful for this generous donation. We all know that a hungry child cannot concentrate in school."
Magerman also expressed gratitude to Governor Frederick for her contributions to supporting education in the region.
