Frustrated Noordoewer residents are accusing the local settlement office, which renders municipal services, of failing to deliver adequate service.

Fed up with poor service delivery, the residents marched to the settlement office to petition against unreliable water supply, uncollected waste and lack of housing.

In addition, they accused the settlement office of nepotism and favouritism in the allocation of plots and jobs.

The protestors demanded a full audit of land allocation, tenders and employment processes.

They also want potable water, repair of leaking water pipes, and cancellation of water bills accumulated during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Through this petition, we demand action and accountability. We hope that it will call decision-makers to order and serve as a constructive step towards meaningful solutions. This is not just airing grievances, it is about demanding the change that our community so desperately needs. Noordoewer deserves better, And we will not be silent until our demands are met," said group spokesperson Reggie Jossop.

The settlement office control clerk, Alfred Muhonga, received the petition.

Muhonga acknowledged the unreliable water supply complaint when questioned on it by nbc News, attributing it to a faulty water pump.

The matter is receiving attention, he said.

Muhonga would not comment on accusations of nepotism and favouritism.

Moreover, protestors maintained they felt neglected by the Karasburg Constituency Office.
