The late Founding President Sam Nujoma was an unmatched man in terms of humanity and humility.

These were the words of the Speaker of the National Assembly and representative of the Chief Mourner, Dr. Nangolo Mbumba, Professor Katjavivi speaking at the memorial service of the late Nujoma at Grootfontein.

Prof. Katjavivi added that Dr. Nujoma never pursued power for his own sake but for all Namibians to live dignified lives.

Nujoma is commended for championing infrastructure development and access to education.

Speaking on behalf of the Nujoma and Kondombolo families was Elisabeth Asino-Joseph.

"He instilled in us the values of hard work, unity, and perseverance. Tatekulu always addressed his mother as meme and never called her by her name and graciously accepted her reprimands. I remember visits to Etunda where my grandmother would insist that he go to church. No matter how busy his schedule was, he would oblige."

Former Defence Force, Retired Lieutenant General Martin Shalli suggested that the plane that carries the remains of the Founding President needs to be marked to distinguish it from the other.

"I have a statement in your office to say whenever this plane is decommissioned, it must be based at the base where future generations can drive there and be shown and see that yes, indeed, so many years, 100, 200, the remains of Dr. Sam Nujoma were flown here; it's very important."

The body of the Founding President will lie in state at the Omulunga Stadium in Grootfontein for the public to get a chance to view.
