The Ministry of Works and Transport bid farewell to its former minister, John Mutorwa, who retired, while also welcoming the incoming minister, Veikko Nekundi.

The event highlighted the dedication and service demonstrated by Mutorwa throughout his tenure while embracing a new chapter under Minister Nekundi's leadership, with a focus on the growth and development of Namibia's transport sector.

Mutorwa, who dedicated 35 years of public service across various portfolios, including Basic Education, Agriculture, and Deputy Prime Minister, was widely praised for his hard work, leadership, dedication and selfless character.

His efforts played a key role in ensuring the completion of projects orderly and disciplined.

During his tenure, major developments were made in road and railway infrastructure, aviation facilities and the revival and completion of several capital projects that had been left unfinished since 2016.

Surrounded by his former colleagues, friends and family, Mutorwa expressed his gratitude while emphasising the important role of public service.

The incoming Minister, Veikko Nekundi, who previously served as Deputy Minister of Works and Transport, pledged exceptional service to the nation.

He also conveyed his best wishes to John Mutorwa, referring to him as his mentor and recognizing the former minister's unwavering commitment to the nation's progress.
