Residents of Zambezi Region have been urged to capitalise on the opportunities presented by the Hyphen Hydrogen Energy.
During the roadshow at Katima Mulilo, residents questioned how they can gain from the green hydrogen project.
Hyphen Hydrogen Energy's Senior Economic Development Manager, Johaness Shipepe, assured residents that they will gain from the project, including job opportunities, once it commences.
He urged farmers and the business community to see how they can provide services required by the project.
"Anyone has an opportunity to participate; our focus is the skills that we require for the project. If we can find local resources available to meet those demands, whether you are Wambo, Herero, or Damara, if they are locals who meet that demand, we will prioritise Namibians. So people from the Zambezi have an equal opportunity as Namibians to participate, and we know that there are specific skills, and we will not find those skills in just one region."
Zambezi Governor Alufea Sampofu stressed the need for creating enterprises that are aligned with the economic development of the country and employment creation.
"How are we going to create jobs, it's through these initiatives like hyphen, we have small enterprises, that's how we create also jobs for ourselves, but in this region we are just looking at bars, opening bars, bottle stores, lets create initiatives it creates jobs, how many people will you employ in a bar, just one lady, maybe a girlfriend, that's nothing, we need enterprises, vision 2030 calls for development in this country."
