Landless People's Movement Youth Command Element leader, Duminga Ndala, says the rise in violent crimes against children is chilling, labelling it a national emergency that requires immediate and targeted intervention.

Ndala called for the establishment of specialised courts dedicated to handling gender-based violence cases, arguing that the current judicial process is too slow and insensitive to meet the needs of victims.

She further proposed the deployment of mobile police units to vulnerable communities, saying this would enhance access to protection services in areas often overlooked by law enforcement.

Ndala also urged lawmakers to prioritise the enactment of the long-awaited Gender-Based Violence and Feminine Bill, which she said is critical to strengthening the legal framework that safeguards the rights and dignity of women and children.

“The system must work for the most vulnerable. We cannot afford to wait any longer,” she said
