Inhabitants of Kavango East and West regions say the appointment of Dr Elijah Ngurare as Prime Minister brings hope and inspiration to many. The town's inhabitants celebrated his appointment at Rundu.

Residents also celebrated the President's appointment of Dr. Emma Kantema as Minister of Gender Equality and Child Welfare.

"We congratulate the right honourable Elijah Tjitunga Ngurare on his appointment as Prime Minister of the Republic of Namibia. Your nomination is not only a national achievement but also a source of immense pride for the people of Kavango East and Kavango West," said Kavango East Governor Julius Hambyuka.

Also celebrated were former Deputy Prime Minister John Mutorwa and other former members of parliament who hailed from the two regions, all for their contributions to the nation's socio-economic development.

The leaders were all awarded gifts as an expression of appreciation.

"God knew that this was going to happen, and this day was good to come. Don't forget to honour your father and mother, and you shall live long. Listen to the elders and listen to the elders and the people who elected you. Peacefully work together with other leaders, and don't forget where you come from," said Homba Sofia of the Shambyu Traditional Authority.

Hompa Alfons Kaundu of the Mbunza Traditional Authority added that "A leader is not a boss but the people's servant; even I, they refer to me as Hompa, but even if it's a child that needs your attention, you have to attend to them. Refusing is wrong."

Former Deputy Prime Minister John Mutorwa encouraged those in attendance to work for the betterment of Namibia and its people, regardless of their cultural differences.

"Everybody is equal before the law. Everybody must be treated equally and fairly under the law. So I am not going to add too much; I think it's too early for me to lecture you."
