President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has called for expedited service delivery, effective implementation of development programs, and decisive action against corruption. This message was conveyed in the National Assembly by Prime Minister Dr. Elijah Ngurare.
In her statement, the President emphasized the government's commitment to enhancing the living standards of all Namibians, following the Swapo Party's victory in the recent Presidential and National Assembly elections.
She outlined key priorities under the Swapo Party Manifesto Implementation Plan for 2025-2030, which include: free tertiary education for all students starting in 2026,
full operation of all green schemes this year to bolster food security, and the establishment of agro-processing facilities in all 14 regions, with the first three to be launched this year in the Omusati, Kavango East, and Hardap regions.
These initiatives are expected to create hundreds of job opportunities.
The President welcomed the timely approval of the 2025-2026 national budget, describing it as essential for driving key development projects and improving livelihoods.
She urged lawmakers to prioritize amending laws that hinder service delivery, highlighting the recently tabled Regional Councils Amendment Bill as a positive step toward enhancing fairness and transparency in human resource management by separating political structures from administrative functions.
The President further warned that delays, corruption, and bureaucratic obstacles will not be tolerated, stating that those who impede progress will face consequences. She called on the Anti-Corruption Commission and prosecuting authorities to intensify efforts to eliminate corruption.
Cabinet ministers have been instructed to submit quarterly progress reports to monitor project delivery and ensure the full utilization of allocated funds.
The President also urged all public servants and national leaders to collaborate with urgency and accountability to achieve visible development across all 14 regions and 121 constituencies.
