The new Simwine of the Masubia Traditional Authority, Gilbert Moraliswani III, has said he will stand on the shoulders of those who fought for the independence of Namibia.

He pledged to carry the responsibility bestowed on him with humility, openness, and respect for other traditional authorities.

In his maiden speech, Simwine Moraliswani III called for unity, tolerance, and for the community to preserve its shared history.

Moraliswani III committed himself to rebuilding the Masubia community.

His speech was read on his behalf by the chairman of the festival organising committee, Alfred Ilukena.

"We are a people bound by shared history and deep connection to this tribe. These are the foundations on which our strength is built. Let us not allow this division to weaken the bond that ties us together; therefore, I offer my sincere apologies for the role that I have played, and I commit myself to working tirelessly to rebuild trust and understanding within our tribe. This is not a time for blame but a time for healing. It is a time for us to come together to create a future where all members' voices are heard, where all members feel valued, and where our shared future is one of peace, prosperity, and humanity."

Moraliswani III further committed to working on the introduction of the Subia language, especially in pre-primary, to expose children to their mother tongue early on.

He also commended the government's development efforts in terms of roads, infrastructure, and clean drinking water and offered the Traditional Authority's continued support.

"I pledge my support to availing arable land for green schemes and building of schools and clinics with the view to supporting government efforts, which are that of bringing rural development to most of our people."

The Masubia Traditional Authority also applauded the former governor, Alufea Sampofu, for the manner in which the tensions between people living along the Namibia-Botswana border were resolved.

Dorothy Kabula, the Governor of Zambezi, also delivered a speech at the event.

"It is a delightful gesture to see the Munitenge Royal establishment calling its sons and daughters to come together in celebration. The statement that culture reflects our unity and our enthusiasm for building a stronger, connected community is true. It reminds us when the timely change is also offered, renewal and change to celebrate what unites us, to heal from what we have lost, and to look forward with hope and determination."
