Today marks an important event for the Anglican Church in Namibia as St Mary’s in Odibo celebrates its 100-year anniversary. The event honours ten decades of spiritual guidance, education, and cultural heritage that helped shape the lives of countless Namibians.
St Mary’s has been a beacon, nurturing faith, educating generations, and serving as a cornerstone for the proud community at the village.
The school attached to the church is known for producing influential leaders who have played key roles in Namibia’s history. Among its notable alumni are human rights activist and Bishop James Kauluma, PLAN commander Peter Mweshihange, celebrated artist John Muafangejo, late liberation hero Andimba Toivo ya Toivo, and President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.
Among the guests joining the celebration are Archbishop Thabo Cecil Makgoba of Cape Town, Bishop Antony Pogo of the Anglican Communion, Bishop David Walker from Manchester, and representatives from international churches like the Episcopal Church in the USA.
