The Otjozondjupa Regional Council will take over the water supply to residents of Kombat.
This comes after CENORED made a payment of close to N$160,000 for the installation of an independent power supply to pump water to residents.
The fight that the Otavi Councillor, George !Garab, had put up for months to bring on board NamWater into the provision of water to Kombat residents has finally paid off.
"I want to commend the stakeholder for always being responsive when the needs of the community are discussed, so here we are. We are going to hand over officially together to the contractor on site so that the contractor can commence his work," said !Garab.
The Cenored contractor, Delta Electrical Services, commenced with the installation of a dedicated metering power supply on Friday.
Charlie Matengu, Corporate Communications Manager at Cenored, explained that the contractor would work "throughout the weekend because we want to restore the normal life and livelihood of our Kombat residents. That's all that we can do from Cenored, but we only have one request: again, when the contractor is here, please let's support them so that the contractor can do their work and then finish on time."
Currently, Cenored has a bulk metering system, which is meant for supplying power to NamWater pumps.
