The newly appointed Human Resource Manager for the Katima Mulilo Town Council, Albert Sibeya, appeared in court today following his arrest early Wednesday morning at the Katima Mulilo checkpoint in the Liselo area.
58-year-old Sibeya faces charges under the Controlled Wildlife and Trade Act and the Nature Conservation Ordinance, including hunting protected game and possession of controlled wildlife products without a permit.
The incident occurred at around 03H00 in the morning during a police routine search when officers discovered various protected game products concealed in the suspect's vehicle.
The confiscated items include one falcon carcass, one duiker carcass, two knob-billed duck carcasses and four white-faced duck carcasses.
All products confiscated were handed over to the officials from the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism (MEFT).
The accused was released on bail of N$2,000 and the case was postponed to the 9 April 2026, for legal application and investigation.
