Housebreaking and robbery topped crime reports across Namibia over the weekend.
Several housebreaking cases with intent to steal occurred in Mariental, Ongwediva, Henties Bay, and Bunya in Kavango West.
In Mariental, a 19-year-old suspect was arrested for breaking into a house and stealing an Apple iPad valued at N$18,000.
In Keetmanshoop, three suspects stole a microwave and a Toyota Hilux in Kronlein; the vehicle overturned on the Keetmanshoop-Aroab road. The 31-year-old driver was hospitalised, and two teens (16 and 17) were arrested. Stolen goods totalled N$193,400.
At Ongwediva, suspects raided multiple homes, taking laptops, clothing, freezers, and TVs. Property losses reached N$24,800 in one case and N$93,900 in another.
Robberies occurred in Gobabis, Ondangwa, and Eenhana. In Gobabis, a 28-year-old man was arrested for robbing a woman of her cellphone at knifepoint. At Ondangwa, a glass deliveryman was assaulted and robbed of N$19,000; in Eenhana, suspects took N$1,234 from a bar worker.
Other incidents included stock theft in Rehoboth (a suspect arrested for slaughtering a sheep) and a rape case involving a minor in Okakarara.
Drug arrests featured a 17-year-old in Nomtsoub, Tsumeb (N$1,520 in drugs), plus seizures in Katutura (N$5,900) and Opuwo (two women, 34 and 38, with cannabis, mandrax, and ecstasy).
In Katutura, a fraud case at Nubuamis Hills near Brakwater saw a suspect pose as a Bank Windhoek official, steal a 70-year-old man's PIN, and withdraw N$170,080. No arrests yet.
A 39-year-old man was arrested in Okahandja for selling a leopard skin worth N$80,000.
