The Minister of Urban and Rural Development (MURD), James Sankwasa, has voiced his disappointment with the management of the Rundu Town Council for failing to respond to challenges on time and leaving community members' health at risk.

This follows a visit by the minister to the Sauyemwa location, where sewage water was found flowing freely.
The sewage water can be seen flowing along a road leading to two schools, with learners travelling on the same daily.
The situation has resulted in restricted access for residents.

Minister Sanwasa asked, "You are on the ground? So I must support you; I need a solution here. Even if you don't solve it overnight, there is what is called a strategic plan. Do you have a strategic plan in your office? What does it say about the last 5 years that you were in the office? You must achieve these aspects, and what have you achieved on that line? Because a strategic plan is supposed to outline what you are going to do on the street, on the business plots or residential plots, whatever aspects of the council there must be a five-year plan."

The minister calls on the council to fulfil their duties of serving the people.
