The Mukorob Film Project, initiated by the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), has concluded with the selection of producers who will pitch for spots in an upcoming masterclass on cinematic storytelling.

The project aims to build local talent and inspire authentic Namibian narratives. It uses film to promote storytelling from local perspectives and provide a platform for filmmakers to showcase their skills, fostering nation-building through stories that reflect the country's history, cultural diversity, and shared values.

NBC Commissioning Editor Glendyrr Bailey said: "We want our own people to subtitle our own scripts. We have cultural differences, vernaculars, and the unique way Namibians talk, certain words we use that somebody from South Africa wouldn't know or understand. That's why it's so important that we tell our own stories in our own way."

Bailey urged young people interested in filmmaking to seize the opportunity and help shape the national narrative.

"Get involved," she said. "For too long, we've said there are no opportunities. They're here now. Become part of it and let's make the most of them by telling our own stories."
