The stage is set for the opening of Parliament with the Namibian Defence Force (NDF) expected to conduct a ceremonial procession to demonstrate discipline, unity and respect for constitutional order.

Preparations for the official opening of Parliament tomorrow took place this morning at the National Assembly.
Final logistical arrangements were being put in place ahead of the ceremonial proceedings.

As part of the ceremony, the NDF will lead a formal procession, symbolising national unity, discipline and the military's commitment to upholding constitutional democracy and civilian authority.

The opening, taking place at 14h30, will bring together the three arms of the state, namely the executive, the legislature and the judiciary.

It will be marked by a guard of honour, a military parade and a 21-gun salute.

The opening marks the commencement of a new parliamentary session, during which Members of Parliament will engage in debates and discussions.

The focus will be on legislation, national policy direction, and oversight, in line with the Constitution and democratic principles of the Republic.
Bills expected to be tabled include the Land, Public Enterprises and Governance, the Mental Health and the Regional Councils Amendment Bills.
