The Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security, Lucia Iipumbu, said that the ministry is aware of incidents involving cattle rustlers from Zambia who are in the Zambezi Region, as well as allegations of harassment.

This statement follows concerns raised by the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Immanuel Nashinge, who highlighted an incident where a Namibian citizen is currently in the intensive care unit after allegedly being assaulted by Zambian nationals.

"What are the conversations between us and Zambia, especially with the Namibian Police Force? Because our citizens go as far as inside Zambia to take their animals back, they get attacked, but even with the issue on the ground, our police are aware."

In response, the minister stated that the issue is currently under investigation.

"We are seized with the matter. The reports have been received. The investigation is ongoing, and the engagement with the police of Zambezi on the other side is ongoing between our Commissioner Andreas Shilelo, who is the head of police in the given region, and as soon as the investigations are completed, the public will be informed on the steps that are to be undertaken."
