The newly appointed director general of the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), Menesia Muinjo, has stressed the importance of teamwork in driving the corporation's revenue growth.
She, amongst others, pledged a strong focus on investment in digital platforms, particularly social media.
Menesia Muinjo, who is NBC's first female director general, rose through the ranks from cadet reporter to chief of news and programming, building a lasting legacy.
At her official welcoming at the NBC TV Headquaters, Muinjo highlighted the need to transform the organisation, ensure clean audits and make effective use of available resources.
She pointed out growing the current revenue through strategic thinking, research, social media and TV licence levies.
Muinjo stressed that a difference can be made through digitalisation, and innovation will be key to building an efficient corporation.
NBC Board chairperson Lazarus Jacobs welcomed Muinjo into her new role, stressing that she assumes the role in a substantive capacity.
Muinjo, he says, assumes full authority and signatory powers as director general effective 1st April.
However, former DG Stanley Similo will remain at the NBC only for a brief period to facilitate a proper handover in the coming weeks.
Jacobs stressed that there will not be two director generals at the corporation.
Jacobs explained that this approach is necessary due to the complex nature of the NBC and its corporate governance structures.
He praised Muinjo for being the right person for the position, given that she has a strong understanding of the organisation's operations as an internal candidate.
Her qualifications also make her well-suited for the role, as she meets all the requirements.
