Former President Hifikepunye Pohamba has conveyed his condolences to the family of the late Parliamentarian James Uerikua.

Former President Pohamba's message was delivered by his Special Assistant, Frans !Gaoseb.

Pohamba described Uerikua as a young, brilliant and promising leader, whose death is devastating to all.

He noted that Uerikua served Namibia with distinction, commitment and a clear sense of purpose.

Former President Pohamba emphasised the enduring respect and gratitude for the late Uerikua's contributions to public service and Parliament.

"We have received the news of the passing of Honourable James Uerikua and his son with profound sorrow. His untimely death is a great loss not only to his family but also to the entire nation. He served Namibia with dedication and purpose, and his contribution will be remembered. We extend our deepest condolences to the family and wish a speedy recovery to those injured in the accident."

Uerikua and his son died in a tragic car crash between Okakarara and Otjiwarongo on Friday.
