With the ever-dynamic changes in newsrooms, exchange programmes among countries have now become a key aspect.

The Head of News and Current Affairs from Lesotho Television, Celinah Leteketa, visited the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) to gain insight into news production and broadcasting practices.

Leteketa says her duration at the NBC provided valuable knowledge on digital media platforms and modern newsroom integration, which she said will contribute to the improvement and development of media operation in Lesotho.

"My interest was particularly on the use of online or digital media, which is your TikTok, your websites, Facebook and Instagram. And I have learned a lot because we have just started to have our online media presence." What I've learned also is that they have one newsroom; the radio newsroom and television newsroom are one. We are also doing what is called the condensed newsroom. We have just started; we are combining the Lesotho Television, the radio and The Sotho, our government newspaper and the Lesotho News Agency into one. So when you see the broadcaster already converging the television and radio, it's easier for me to take some points and go back with them and help in our congested project in Lesotho."

NBC's Director General, Menesia Muinjo, highlights the importance of embracing technological developments to improve quality and delivery of news and media content.

"We continue to learn as the technology evolves; we continue to learn in terms of our industry. Yes, we say news is news, but there are better ways of doing it, whether through Artificial Intelligence (AI), as long as you have the human intervention as part of it, or whether it's the gadgets, the tools that we are using to gather and package news."
