A 40-year-old Congolese national has been arrested in Otjiwarongo after police allegedly discovered pharmaceutical products and baby formula being sold illegally from his tuck shop in Orwetoveni.
According to Otjozondjupa Police spokesperson and Community Liaison Officer Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha, the arrest followed investigations into a reported dispute between the suspect and a former health assistant linked to the alleged sale of medicines, baby formula, and diapers suspected to have been sourced from Otjiwarongo State Hospital.
Police searched the tuck shop and reportedly found various pharmaceutical products and tins of baby formula displayed for sale.
The suspect allegedly failed to provide proof of ownership or a license authorising the sale and distribution of the items.
Officials from the Ministry of Health visited the premises and declared it unfit to dispense pharmaceutical products.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Otjiwarongo Magistrate's Court on Monday.
The value of the recovered items has not yet been determined, and investigations continue.
