President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has arrived in Pretoria, South Africa this afternoon to co-chair the Fourth Session of the Namibia-South Africa Bi-National Commission - BNC.                                                            

In a press statement, the presidency says the summit will conclude a week of engagements between the two governments, which began with a senior officials' session that started on the 14th to 15th of July 2026, followed by a ministerial session on the 16th, co-chaired by Namibia's minister of international Relations and Trade, Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, and her South African counterpart, Ronald Lamola, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation.

The BNC is the highest permanent mechanism of cooperation through which Namibia and South Africa review and enhance their existing bilateral relations and cooperation.

The relationship between the two countries is supported by more than 150 bilateral agreements covering a wide range of sectors, including political, diplomatic, legal, economic, social, defence and security cooperation.

Areas of discussion during the BNC include trade, investment and economic integration; border management and boundary matters; infrastructure, energy and connectivity; disaster management and humanitarian cooperation; defence, security and transnational challenges; and regional, continental and global issues, and a number of agreements and Memoranda of Understanding are expected to be signed during this session.
