AU member states are expected to decide on bold policies and investment actions to accelerate the continent's industrialisation drive.

The discussions will take place during the African Union Summit on Industrialisation and Economic Diversification, to be held in Niger next month.

The President of Niger, Mohamed Bazoum, sent an invitation letter to President Geingob, delivered by special envoy Salamatou Gourouza Magapi at State House.

The Summit on Industrialisation and Economic Diversification is part of the continental body's annual commemorative activities of Africa's Industrialisation Week.

Heads of State and Government are expected to provide reviews of strategies to diversify the continent's economy and accelerate actions towards Africa's structural transformation.

Other expected outcomes are for the AU leaders to agree on a compact between governments and Africa's private sector, academia, and civil society.

The purpose of the compact, if signed, would be to fast-track the implementation of the Africa Continental Free Trade Area.
