Gabriel Kanyanga was re-elected unopposed as mayor of Rundu for the second term.

Four of the seven councilors in the town council are from the Swapo Party.

Kanyanga said he accepts the challenge to lead the council with humility.

He called on the councilors to work together for the good of the town and its residents.

He also urged residents to pay their municipal bills so that the council could provide effective service delivery.

"I cannot conclude without also indicating that we are not the best to be town councilors; there are other people who are able to run this town better than ourselves, but if you give us your cooperation, there is nothing impossible for us to be able to render the service to our maximum to ensure that our town flourishes."

Johanna Kakondo was also re-elected Deputy Mayor.

Another Swapo Councillor,  Engelbert Muyenga, was elected Chairperson of the Management Committee.

Regina Nakare and Reginald Ndara, from the Swapo Party and Rundu Concerned Citizens Association, respectively, are the other members of the management committee.

Nicolaus Ndumba and Rosalia Nanghuti, from the Rundu Urban Community Association and Independent Patriots for Change, respectively, are ordinary members.
