The Project Never Walk Alone has received a N$400,000 donation from Standard Bank Namibia.

The donation will provide shoes for 1,275 children in the Kunene Region.

In 2023, the project intends to hand over 10,000 pairs of shoes.

Standard Bank Namibia's Chief Executive Mercia Geises recalls her barefoot journey to school in the Kunene Region.

Geises hailed platforms such as the Never Walk Alone project for driving growth and change.

The founder of the project, Tim Ekandjo, says the initiative still has a long journey ahead, citing statistics of an estimated 900,000 barefoot children and adults across the country.

He says the project requires N$80 million to provide shoes to 900,000 vulnerable children across the country over a period of five years.

According to Ekandjo, the project has so far raised N$3.1 million in sponsorships.

Last year, Project Never Walk Alone handed over 6,200 pairs of shoes.
