Windhoek City Council will hold a special meeting this Thursday to elect new office bearers.

The municipality has been without a Mayor, Deputy, and members of the Management Committee after some councilors chose not to participate in elections late last year.

City of Windhoek spokesperson Harold Akwenye says even though the municipality has been without office bearers for more than six weeks, the situation has not had a negative impact on the city's daily affairs.

Akwenye said the acting CEO and the Strategic Executive, Faniel Maanda, did a good job steering the ship and implementing the deliverables for the residents.

The special council meeting will be open to the public starting at 17:30.
