Local Authority political office bearers receive allowance increases

Political office bearers serving in Part II municipalities, towns, and village councils will receive increases in their monthly allowances, which came into effect on the first of this month.

Councillors in municipalities will receive 10%, while those on town and village councils will receive 15% and 20%, respectively.

Councillors will also receive benefits such as airtime and sitting allowances.

Swapo Central Committee elects new office bearers

The Swapo Party Central Committee meeting has elected new office bearers to serve the party in various portfolios for a five-year term.

Peya Mushelenga has been elected as Secretary for External Relations, while Veikko Nekundi has been elected as Secretary for Defense and Security.

Bernadette Jagger grabbed the Economic Affairs Secretary position, and Lucia Ipumbu became the Secretary for Finance.

Windhoek City Council to elect new office bearers

Windhoek City Council will hold a special meeting this Thursday to elect new office bearers.

The municipality has been without a Mayor, Deputy, and members of the Management Committee after some councilors chose not to participate in elections late last year.

City of Windhoek spokesperson Harold Akwenye says even though the municipality has been without office bearers for more than six weeks, the situation has not had a negative impact on the city's daily affairs.

Election, swearing-in ceremony for office bearers at Bukalo Town Council postponed

The Bukalo Village Council has yet again failed to successfully hold an election and swearing-in ceremony for office bearers after two PDM management committee councillors failed to show up, this morning.

 In what seems like a repeat of last week's boycott that led to a postponement of the ceremony, PDM members, Kamwi Sakutuka who is the current Deputy Chairperson of the management committee as well as Lawrence Mukena did not show up for the event. 

Reasons have not been given as to why the two council members did not pitch.
