Senate delegates of the OvaHerero Traditional Authority have descended on Otjimbingwe to elect the new Ombara Otjitambi of the OvaHerero people.

The OvaHerero community gathered at the historical village of Otjimbingwe to appoint a leader.

McHenry Venaani, Mike Kavekotora and academic Hoze Riruako are the three men nominated to take over as Ombara Otjitambi.

These elections come after another faction nominated and installed Professor Mutjinde Katjiua at a colorful coronation ceremony as Ombara Otjitambi.

The faction gathered at Otjimbingwe is led by the chairperson of the OTA Vipuira Kapuuo, but according to the Mutjinde faction, Kapuuo is suspended.
