Namibia and Ethiopia will soon be providing military training, military equipment, and the exchange of intelligence information, among other things, to each other.

This is contained in the Memorandum of Understanding on Defense Cooperation between the two countries.

Namibia’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, and Ethiopia’s Minister of National Defense, Dr. Abraham Baley, signed the MoU in Ethiopia's capital, Addis Ababa, on Thursday.

The two countries say that the agreement is essential for the promotion of peace and stability while maintaining mutual respect for each other’s sovereign equality and territorial integrity.

Others are the promotion of research and development as well as technical aspects to be mutually agreed upon between the two countries through subsequent agreements within the framework of the MOU.

The MoU further allows for the establishment of the Ethio-Namibian Joint Defense Committee to coordinate and facilitate the implementation.
